Dobbies Garden Center

Dobbies Garden Center has been around since 1865, and today the chain has 24 stores across Scotland and England.

The company has grown from an old established business that was originally founded by James Dobbie in 1865 to a once public company and one of the leading Garden Centre Groups in the United Kingdom.

In 1969 Dobbies was purchased by Waterers, which is another distinguished name in the horticultural business. From Waterers' Surrey base, the merged entity was able to rapidly increase sales in Scotland and England.

As for being a public company for while, the garden center chain was floated on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Market in 1997, delisted, however on 2008, and is on course to expand into a chain of 100+ stores in the next ten years.
