American Landscape Contractor Association

American Landscape Contractor Association is called PLANET, formed on January 1, 2005, by Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) and Professional Lawn Care Association of America merger.

PLANET, or the Professional Landcare Network, is an international and national association for lawn care professionals, landscape management contractors, design/build/installation professionals, and interior plantscapers.

Member firms of PLANET have direct access to

  • marketing tools,
  • industry specific business publications,
  • updates on legislative issues, and
  • networking opportunities that can assist members in becoming more profitable.

    The association has about 4,000 member firms throughout the nation.

    As part of their mandate, they provide different landscape related certification programs that include:

  • CLT-I - Certified Landscape Technician - Interior
  • CLT-E - Certified Landscape Technician - Exterior
  • CLP - Certified Landscape Professional
  • COLP - Certified Ornamental Landscape Professional
  • CTP - Certified Turfgrass Professional
  • CTP-CSL - Certified Turfgrass Professional - Cool Season Lawns
